Board of Directors
BECIP operates under the direction of a governing Board, who is made up of family participants, interested agency personnel and past consumers. Every decision the Board makes and every action it takes is focused on supporting the growth and development of children.
Other key responsibilities of the Board are to:
- Establish policies and make decisions that reflect the requirements of service contracts and provincial priorities
- Select and support the Executive Director, and review his/her performance
- Ensure that programs and services are effective and efficient
- Ensure that BECIP complies with all legal requirements
- Connect and partner with other human service agencies in the community that serve young children and their families
BECIP recognizes the need for input from parents into various parts of our program, and invites participation from families. Any parents interested in participating on, or wanting more information, please contact the Executive Director at BECIP.
Volunteers are always welcome!!
Admissions and Discharge Committee
Referrals for BECIP services are made by professionals in the community or by families contacting the BECIP office directly. An Admission and Discharge Committee that is coordinated by the Executive Director review all referrals. Members of the committee include representatives from local School Divisions in the Battlefords, Community Living Division of the Department of Social Services, and Prairie North Regional Health Authority.
An initial home visit is made to the family and an application and parent agreement is completed. Children may require to be placed on a waiting list until an available space is open. Once your child is placed onto caseload you can expect home visits to begin.
Children are admitted to Battlefords ECIP who meet the following criteria:
- Children from birth to mandatory school age
- Children who have
- An established medical or physical condition
- Developmental delay
- At risk for developmental delay
- Children whose parents are prepared to participate actively according to the Parent/Guardian Contract
Currently in the year 2009/2010 BECIP is funded for 63 full-time spaces, with an additional 17 spaces funded by individual Reserves. We also have children in Day Care, and children in Pre-Kindergarten who we provide supports to. |
